This isn’t an unfamiliar scene, for many of us. Here I am, on what is essentially #myFriday , drinking something warm (it’s freezing here in NC) and eating takeout. I am not doing any school work or blogging, I’m just going to sit here and watch Netflix. Because that’s my chosen reality today, after working my shifts early on in the week.
As much as this account is about nursing, it’s about being human! @nineliveshealth always talking out the importance of #BEing and not only living for the exciting moments in life. This is something that anyone, especially those of us in #healthcare can take for granted.
We don’t like BEing still or not having something planned, it makes us feel unproductive. Or at least that how we’ve been conditioned. Many of us feel uncomfortable with that, even if some of us are procrastinators, you still have things planned to do. However, the reality is, we need appropriate periods of “non-productivity”, periods of non-activity, to maintain balance in our lives.
Of course, we must have balance with our unproductiveness, however, if we are always “go go go” we will burn out quicker, lose satisfaction more often, be more depressed, etc... Who wants that kind of life?
So here’s to the people who stay in on Friday nights sometimes, doing absolutely nothing. To the people that love people, but who love time away from them just as much. Here’s to days and nights of getting absolutely nothing done. Here’s to those doing what makes them feel relaxed and renewed, doing what makes them feel human again after trying live up to the worlds impossible standards all week. Here’s to doing more than existing, but to BEing!
